Harley make their own oil now? Wow! I knew they must have had lots of shares in it, the way their bikes chew through it ;)

got a few mates with Harleys and most don't have these consumption issues.

My CX was chomping through 15w40, and now with the change to 20w-50 it barely uses a drop :)

Yeah, the Harley jibe is an oldie, and reasonably true for really old Hogs, (and just about any old British and European bikes of the era) but any post 1980 Harleys are pretty oil tight. My 1985 Sporty was a fantastic bike, it didn't burn or leak oil, it handled well, had good brakes and could drag off big Jap multi's from the lights, due to it's not inconsiderable torque. I only sold it because I was almost cleaned up by cars twice in the one week, and with two small kids, I thought it appropriate to give the bikes a rest. Most motorcycle manufacturers sell their own oil and other lubricants that they believe are best suited to their bikes. Cheers, Terry.  happy0062

Hey Mark,

just been reading through the old posts regarding oil for the CX500.  Having recently restored mine, I'm keen to get the oil right.

Confirming you used: Penrite HPR Gas 10 Engine Oil - 10W-50
Thanks
Stephen
