Fix for an Eroded Water-Pump Cover
« Started on: 12-Aug-20, 15:30 »
Following a mishap with the CX650 water-pump cover, I've purchased a second hand replacement.  The new cover is in good usable condition, but has some erosion of the casting material in certain places.  I am considering using some JB Weld to fill these areas, the objective being to delay further erosion/deterioration, and to (marginally) improve flow efficiency.
Has anyone done/considered this?  Any advice before I plough ahead will be welcome.

Personally I would ignore it and make sure in future that it lives in an anticorrosive environment. {clean coolant}

But .... JB weld will ably repair it if you so wish.

Good chance of JB weld coming off in chips due to heating cycles and difference in expansion coefficient to aluminium. The chips will end up stuck in the radiator.....
Follow Freak's advice and just keep the coolant right.

Thanks guys.  Your wise words have convinced me to go down the line of least effort.
Of interest (perhaps) the three locations where there has been deterioration are at the bottom of each chamber.
