Length of Camshaft Splines - CX650

I'm trying to do a final check prior to doing a "Shep" mechanical seal fix.  I believe that the thrust washer is already sitting on the camshaft and partly covering the splines (see photo).  I have about 6.3mm of spline protruding past (what I believe to be) the washer.  This would mean about 8 to 8.5 mm of spline protruding with no washer in place.  Other posts have asked similar questions (for instance https://australiancx.asn.au/forum/index.php?topic=14391.0) but I have yet to see a verified measurement from a reliable source.  So my question is; can I assume that the thrust washer is in place and confidently proceed with the seal replacement and reassembly?

Your thrust washer is present on your cam in the picture Dave.
