While I'm certainly not an expert, I would think that because it's made from a cast alloy mixture it wouldn't be able to be successfully welded. Better to find a replacement one IMO.

Too bad international postage is so dear these days - I came across this on CL, dirt cheap for what's there:

I have got one here for sale, not sure if it is a 650 or a 500 part.  The posts are 33mm tall.  The 650 part and the 500 part are not interchangeable although they do look very similar.

You would have worked out by now that this part is easily damaged by incorrect dismantling, Loosen the bolts by going round and around turning the bolts two turns at a time.  Reassembly the same way.  I collected a number of these pressure plates from wrecked engines in a barn find many years ago, most of them 500's, knowing that this damage can happen and that they would be wanted sooner or later.

Hi,

I broke one of the posts on my cx500 pressure plate.

I put a post on this forum looking for a replacement but never got a reply.

I probably pushed the wrong button, I find this forum very hard to use.

After I got no reply, I fixed mine by screwing a M6 set screw with a countersunk head in from the back of the plate.

I used the strongest Loctite on the threads and on the broken post as a glue.

Nyloc nut on the other end.

I am not sure if this part spins, so I did the same to the opposite post to balance.

i have done about 1000km since this work: no problems

Surely someone else has done this before, but if you want further details phone me 0418434044

It would be really nice if I get a reply to this post so I know it went on.

Regards,
David

PS I only took one picture, I will try to put it on

Hi David, sorry to hear you are having difficulty understanding how this forum works. I actually find it one of the easiest to use and keep up to date with.

Your earlier post did indeed get several replies including a reply about the normal fix for this problem. You can find them at the following link,

The repair you showed is exactly what you were advised to do...
I don't know how you think forums work... You have to set any forum to notify you of replies if you don't want to check manually for replies to posts.
My guess however is that you will not see these responses either....

Cheers,

Joe
