Well, it's been a while, but the CX500 is finally back on the road after triple by-pass and camshaft/followers replacement.
I've done a few hundred km so far, but haven't yet fitted the radiator shroud. Whilst I now have dimensions for the collars, I'm still mystified about their purpose. The only answer that I've come up with is that they are to prevent heat transfer from the metal radiator to the plastic shroud. This answer, however, is inconsistent with J.C.'s advice that they are made from steel. I've got some steel rod from which I could turn up parts to the dimensions provided, but I'm reluctant to proceed until I can understand the intended purpose. Can anyone add to the advice already provided before I have to stumble along in ignorance?
