Red Kelly...the Kanga..what's the origin???

Hi all.
A CX owner (European) has a Red Kelly jacket...anyone know the history of this...?

I do not know the story behind it but I could reason it is a take on “Ned Kelly” and as it is a Red Kangaroo it becomes Red Kelly.

many of us can remember "Fred Gassit" (the kangaroo from Revs)...and even Eric and Douglas...(the Koala  sidecar outfit duo again Revs)...but not this one.....
Maybe just a play on words ...but a interesting one...

Edit...memorys goin'....."Fred" was of course AMCN

I think it was Edgar Pennzig that had a column in AMCN those so many years ago where he talked about Aust. convict history, I have a recording of him giving a lecture on convicts and other matters to my old MC Club about 1975.  Edgar moved from Sydney to Oatlands Tasmania soon after this lecture and has now passed away.  By coincidence my grandparents lived in Oatlands Tas but many years before.

LES, I remember Edgar giving Australian history lessons to Willoughby DMCC meetings in the 1960s.
