Just out of interest, does this rally happen on the same weekend every year??
Hi Moose,

Although the last two rallies have been held on this particular weekend (ie, the March long weekend in Vic/SA/ACT) I don't know when or where the next rally will be held - guess we'll have to wait and see who puts their hand up to organise it and when/where they want to hold it.  sign0163

It probably should stay in NSW somewhere as that's a central point for the east coast.

Closer to the beach next time ?  whackado

Actually, where's Coolamon?   happy0167

It will probably be worth opening up a new thread on this at some time in the future. I would think that keeping it fairly "central" may work well for most members. Also, the long weekend does give the extra day to get home, but in fact, for those working, taking a day off before a long weekend is tricky as you generally need to take it as part of long service leave or do a day's pay.
There's never going to be a perfect solution...we'd be happy to organise something along the Great Ocean Rd or similar in Vic...and I am sure the same for all states eh!

Actually Bathurst inspires imagination.

Is the track still open for normal road use during the year?

Narrandera is also a good NSW town with a caravan park that has a water complex with a slide & a river.

there's lot's of great places.  cool0010

there's a thousand diffeerent places to go but as kathy said its a matter of someone putting there hand up and saying yep Ill do it and take on the resposibility.

We have done NSW/ACT the last two years so maybe Vic or qld need a go or of course SA/WA/NT/TAS.

We are lucky in where we live there are some excellent parks around eg;Wisemans Ferry has a great park on the hawkesbury river, fishing, golf, little restruant, great camping spots no were near the toilet block and cabins galore and the addedd bonus of some really great bike roads.

I suppose a decision needs to be made weather we make this an annual event or bi annual as was discussed last year.

No it is not the same weekend
It is just when someone is prepared to run it and the rest of us have to try and fit in.
So far we are not sure when the the next one will be or when.
Hopefully someone will be prepared to put it on.
Even outside NSW would be good, but not on the the  VJMC weekend hopefully

TIME TO CHILL OUT AND THINK WHAT HAS BEEN EXPRESSED BEFORE HAND

Cowra 2010 we all spoke about having the rally the year after 2011 then we would break for 2 years which would mean 2013

As some members wouldn't be able to afford Rally each year along with other rides/meets that are offered to us through other members. (Ace's Black Spur Ride.. Pelican Rally... VJMC... etc). I am one of these members who can't afford rally after rally, not only that I have to think of my children and their schooling/work.

If you listened to chit chat at the Sutton Rally you would have heard that Lindsay (Olwesty) said he may be able to hold a rally/get to together at Hat head in 2013 if things worked out for himself and Eileen...

To hold off chin waggin and PMs being sent to other members there will be NO rally at MC Park in 2012.... it will/may be only a track day/weekend for those who had there names on the list last year...

A rally/get together is to be enjoyed and cherished... Sometimes it won't be everyone's cuppa tea/ beer.... that's why we have the choice to go and explore other rally/rides....

It takes a hell of a lot to organise a rally/ride for you as members of this CX - GL Forum. So be grateful that there has been some wonderful helpers to do such things... 2010 Cowra was myself, Wayne, my understanding boys, Josh Ryan Lockie Kalob and Ashleigh, My dear mates ARTY and Kay, Charlie (cooked breakfast), Rooray, Coolamon Crew, Phantom and heaps more. 2011 Kathy & Ron... Enzo, Lindsay cooking....  SO be proud of what we have had in the past and what we can have in the future...

Not very often that I have a whinge or niggle on the forum but at this point and time with the winging behind scenes I really cant be bothered with any of it...

I have some great friends here and one hell of a good friend above  2angel ..... that's what keeps me hanging in

so words of advice,,, if you're having a whinge DON'T PM or RING me cause you will get attitude from me...

Regards Mel

I know there has already been quite a bit of discussion (at this year's rally, on the forum and privately) as to when and where our next rally should be held.

Irrespective of whether or not our rally is held every year or every second year there will always be those who cannot attend due to family/work/health/financial issues/commitments.  There were quite a few people at our 2010 rally who could not attend our 2011 rally for reasons like these and many of them are already planning to attend our next rally.

The main thing to realise is that there is no one option that will suit everyone every time but this is also why I believe our rally should be held every year.  I am aware that some people have already indicated they may not be able to attend our rally next year but are planning to do so the following year.  However, I don't think it is fair to plan the year in which our next rally is held around those who cannot attend next year - if we start doing this we would likely never hold another rally as there will always be someone who cannot attend!

That said, I do think it is appropriate to try and set a date as early as possible so that people can plan ahead (I know that some people have to request leave up to a year ahead of when they want to take it).  While I realise that the date for the 2012 VJMC Rally has not yet been announced (and may not be for some months yet) this rally is usually held in March.  Therefore, and given that a number of people are affected by school term dates, I am proposing that our next rally be held on the weekend of 13-15 April 2012.  This is the weekend after Easter and it is also during the school holidays in ACT, NSW, NT, SA, Vic and WA.

As to where it will be held - that has not yet been decided ...

Kathy,

The weekend after easter is OK for me, and I'm pretty happy to travel to most places - just needs careful planning and coordination with SWMBO, but I'm not a good enough organiser to put my hand up at this time....willing to help out or assist if I can.

hi all I am happy to take point for the next rally, I had put forward bathurst as a potential site but on the weekend suggested by kathy we would find there is likly to be an event on the mountan so this could take away some of the appeal of the location but inturn may add some appeal so your input is sought.
after that suggestions are more than welcome on other locations. If the easter week end is our prefered date then we will need to move fairly swiftly as sites may fill quickly.
please post your comments or pm feedback so we can make this happen asap.

I think I agree with what has been said here about forthcoming rallies. As a democratic forum, there shouldn't be any problem with putting a time/location to a vote and everyone going along with the majority. If the time/location doesn't suit, don't go.
As I was hanging around Canberra for a couple of days before the rally I was able to get a bit of an idea how much effort was put into organizing it. Perhaps in future more than one couple could be involved in it. Say 1 person does the rides, another arranges the catering, another the bookings etc.
I would be happy to be involved in some way, but I don't think I'm capable of organizing a complete rally.

Um what ever happened to cooking your own, seems a good way to me, clean up after yourself and enjoy a drink and what ever you want to eat.

Doesn't mean we couldn't do a group buy on the food just get it yourself and save some poor bugger having to be tied up all day cooking and cleaning happy0207

Yep .. we hope to have things sorted enough to hold a CX/GL Rally here at Kinchela (6 mins ride to Hat Head), plenty of room for camping here on the property or good cabins / camping at Hat Head, the only problem I can foresee is showers and loos .. we could hire a couple of porta-loos and shower together ..  rolleye0012 .. if we can clean all the old rusty bikes out of the old dairy shed (bike grave yard) there will be plenty of undercover area for cooking / socialising etc .. a few volunteers in the week before the rally would do the job ..
