as part of the build of the  guzzified CX - the "motoRosie" as it has been dubbed -
one of the tasks is the replacement of the air assisted shock with something more modern -

so heres the product of some lunchtimes with the milling machine -

the shock comes from a 2000 is cbr900 fireblade - needs to be  a 285 /286 mm eye to eye shock in order to be able
to have any chance to come close to the 300mm final length needed to match the original -
this requires the  removal of the original eyelet and the construction of an alternate mounting method -

so here are the bits at the moment - should get it finished on the weekend.

all welded up and drying from painting -

will zip the spring off tomorrow in the press at work and cleanout the internals -

have also had a look at the cast prolink section that the shock mounts to  -
this variant will fit the unmodified prolink - so would be a drop in.

Given that I have a spare pro-link i've pressed out the top mount that the shock mounts to -
tomorrow I'll machine that out to take a normal showa / honda shock mount between the outer mounts
and make up some space rings I can press in - this should allow for a neater fit of a standard 300mm
shock - which is my prefered option for me - neater but of course not reversible to the original shock -
now i'll need to track down another cbr600 shock again for this option - sigh

photos to come

phone cable was at work - couldn't be $%^$% taking another set of photos - hence the delay -

so heres the modified shock for the drop in replacement - not the prettiest beast in the world but functional

Ray, I really think you should send that monoshock over to me for testing.

My hearing aids will fail immediately afterwards & I'll never hear you ask for it back.

It looks great.

cheers

It becomes.............THE WASP!

Faster than speeding bulldust, more powerful than a loco-650, leaps tall GL's? in a single bound....
